Tips From Seasoned Alberta Hunting Outfitters
1. Proper gun safety is critical. Ensure you are familiar with your weapon and its capabilities.
2. Communicate with your guide. I can assure you that your guide wants you to have success just as much as you do. So make sure to let your guide know what is on your mind and trust that he has your best interests in mind.
3. Double check that you fully understand your agreement with the outfitter. Such as arrival/departure dates and times, license information, prices, and extra fees are all pieces of information that should be clear.
4. Don't make a competition out of the hunt. Not everyone can shoot the biggest and best in camp, if you see an animal that you would be happy with, no matter the time of the hunt, pull the trigger. Because you never know what can happen if you pass it up.
5. Use good field sense and trust your instincts. It might sound elementary but walk quietly, talk softly, be aware of your surroundings, etc.
6. Maintain a positive attitude throughout the hunt. Not everyone will shoot on the first day. Stick with it and be patient. Also understand that there are certain things that are out of your guides' control , like the weather and the animals.
7. ENJOY YOURSELF! Can't stress this enough. Being able to do something that so many of us love to do is supposed to be fun. Embrace every aspect of the adventure like meeting new people in camp, seeing a new area of the world and hopefully harvesting the animal you come for.
